El mandative subjunctive aparece especialmente después de verbos, nombres y expresiones que indican recomendación, exigencia, necesidad o propuesta: recommend that, insist that, demand that, it is essential that. La forma verbal no lleva -s en tercera persona y be se mantiene como be incluso en contextos donde el indicativo usaría is o are. En inglés británico también es frecuente el patrón should + verbo, por lo que conviene reconocer ambas opciones.
The committee recommended that the proposal be revised.
El comité recomendó que se revisara la propuesta.
It is essential that every applicant submit the form by Friday.
Es esencial que cada solicitante presente el formulario antes del viernes.
The chair insisted that the figures be checked again.
El presidente insistió en que se comprobaran de nuevo las cifras.
